I just came in from my morning walk.
My devotions led me to this.
it was a special thought.
I was in bed, in the dark, in the middle of the night, with no pen, paper, or desire to wake the Cutie.
But it was so special that I didn’t think it was necessary to record it.
I would most certainly remember it.
It was going to make a tantalizing, uplifting, inspiring, and effective morning walk!
Three hours later when I got up I was kind of excited to get walking.
Alas, I couldn’t remember the idea.
It was out there, just a millimeter or so beyond my memory.
I invested some of very precious time trying to travel that millimeter.
I put considerable effort into it.
I strained and stressed and squinted my eyebrows.
That ever happen to you?
So I wound up with this.
Some things you don’t need to bother chasing.
They just seem to get further away.
Instead, you wait and in the waiting you occupy yourself with good work and pleasant plans.
And a needed reminder that grace isn’t something you pursue.
It is something you receive.
That thought will turn up.
At an unexpected moment and with great joy - and sweet relief.
If I will just let it go.
There is a lot I need to let go so that I can receive.
