I just came in from my morning walk.
My devotions led me to this.
Don’t hit back; discover beauty in everyone. If you’ve got it in you, get along with everybody. Don’t insist on getting even; that’s not for you to do. “I’ll do the judging,” says God. “I’ll take care of it.” Romans 12:18 The Message
It seems to be getting crazier by the hour.
Someone gets offended.
Then someone else gets offended that they are offended
Then someone creates a meme. Or cracks a joke. Or starts a rumor.
Then the spiral of offenses broadens to include more offended, indignant, counter offended (I think I just invented a new term!) and further outraged friends.
Or they are supposed to be friends!
It ain’t going to be that way with us because it ain’t that way with our friend Jesus.
Our Guide has every reason to take offense. He has suffered distortion. And rejection. And he has been manipulated into all sorts of mind numbing and soul shaking caricatures of systems and alliances and deceits.
He just smiles and loves and keeps offering his peace. That is all.
I suspect you are thinking right now of the evil someone you know has inflicted upon Jesus.
What if the someone, as in my case, is the person in the mirror?
What if being like Jesus is not giving up, but neither is it forcing surrender?
What if we just smile, and love, and keep on offering peace?
If you choose to lose sleep over that “skubala” you can’t control so be it.
But as for me and those who walk this walk, we are going to aim higher.
