I just came in from my morning walk.
My devotions led me to this.
“Sarah laughed within herself, “An old woman like me? Get pregnant? With this old man of a husband?” Genesis 18:12 The Message
I could use a good chuckle.
The jokes on you.
You have got to be kidding me!
Funny how God "makes all things new.” I was sitting here, sipping a very good cup of Haitian coffee, praying and listening, and Sarah and Abraham startled me. The more I meditated, the more I related - and laughed.
Karen and I have an announcement we think you will find interesting.
We are “expecting.”
At the age that brings people asking, quite regularly, “are you thinking about retiring?”, God is saying, “we’ve only just begun.” (Some of you are humming an old pop ballad about now).
Following after God in the Way of Jesus isn’t a journey to an end. It is a perpetual beginning.
It is a series of chuckles, heck, sometimes gut busting guffaws, at what God is doing.
So tomorrow morning, bright and early, we will head to Lucy’s Barge to share in the birth of a new worship service.
And in the coming hours there will be a major advance in the #changetheconversationministry that we believe will reshape lives untold.
The mission outreach of our small band of believers is giving birth to hope and growth beyond any notion of physical limits.
And here I sit, and there you sit, laughing within ourselves.
For God is, and always will be, in the habit of surprising us with new life, new creations, a born again hope that is just absolutely, absurdly, miraculously, astoundingly, hilarious.
I think I am going to start asking everyone I know who walks by faith…
“What’s your due date?”
