I just came in from my morning walk.
My devotions led me to this.
I can’t help myself. Perhaps you can’t either.
I have a strong tendency to speak in superlatives. My go to style is hyperbole.
Astounding. Outrageous. Overwhelming. Incredible.
When I want to make a point I overreach.
And because I overreach so frequently the point gets lost in comparison to the previous, or the next point.
This morning I need to learn to keep it simple.
It ought to be obvious to me. Simple is the residence of the profound.
It is in the silence that you hear the thunderous whisper.
There I go again.
Anyway, on the cusp of another calendar year the simple truth that I obscure if I overstate…
God loves me.
Jesus is beside me.
I love you.
And I aim to preach that we realize all of the above when we love one another.
I am aiming higher.
